Dark Hollow
Syracuse, NY · formed 1996
Dark Hollow is a Syracuse-based Grateful Dead band that bills itself as Central New York's premier Dead tribute; its own bio says the founding members started in 1996 and that the band is now in its 30th year. Founders Mike Vincitore (lead guitar) and Mike O'Hara (lead vocals/guitar) still anchor a seven-piece with Mike Hamilton on rhythm guitar, Mike Boccuzzi on keys, Elliott Jarvis on bass and two drummers, Jeff Roney and Jack Jarvis. They draw on the wider Dead-family catalog rather than a single era, and they work the Syracuse circuit steadily -- Middle Ages Music Hall and the Middle Ages Brewing anniversary party, Coleman's, Meier's Creek Brewing in Cazenovia, the Manlius Village Amphitheater, and the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts. The band lists shared bills with moe., Melvin Seals and Terrapin Flyer, Vince Welnick, New Riders of the Purple Sage and Donna Jean Godchaux.
