Dead Rise

Dead Rise is a six-piece acoustic tribute from Yorktown, Virginia playing the songs the Grateful Dead and the Allman Brothers performed on acoustic instruments. The band is Norm Faulkner, Gregg Shivers, Burke Johnson, David Charlton, Lee Archard and Mark Clark, and it grew out of weekly Tuesday-night guitar sessions at Mark Clark's house. They were originally called the Grateful Dads before renaming for the deadrise, the Chesapeake Bay workboat hull — a nod to the water as much as the music. They play regionally from Richmond out to the Outer Banks.
