Dead Roses is a San Francisco Bay Area Grateful Dead tribute led by guitarist and vocalist Todd Bugbee, with Stephanie Hartwell-Mandella on vocals, Nate Beltz on rhythm guitar, Tim Baker on bass, Preston Barnes on drums, and James Miller on keys — Miller citing Pigpen and Keith Godchaux as the models. The band works the late-1980s stadium-era arrangements, plays rooms from Peri's in Fairfax to Winters Tavern in Pacifica, and also turns up as a duo.
