Garcia Birthday Band

Garcia Birthday Band has anchored Portland's Grateful Dead scene since 1999. The lineup is Peter Bach (guitar, vocals), Justin John (guitar, vocals), Adam King (keys, vocals), Scott Gillan (bass, vocals) and Murray Gusseck (drums, percussion), all veterans of other Oregon projects. They use the Dead's repertoire as a springboard for open improvisation rather than a script, and play Portland rooms including Sanctuary Hall, the Alberta Rose Theatre and the Star Theater.
