Great Northern out of DC

Great Northern out of DC formed in 2017 after its members met at the weekly Grateful Dead open jams around Washington. The band is Erik Richardson on guitar and lead vocals, Matt Reiter on lead guitar, Jesse Aronson on keyboards, Tyrone Cabalu on bass and Brian Rosenthal on drums, mixing longtime Deadheads with younger players who bring a modern jam feel. They work the DC-Maryland-Virginia circuit, from The Hamilton Live and Union Stage to Clyde's restaurants and The 8x10 in Baltimore, leaning on improvisation and dynamics rather than note-for-note recreation.
