The JiMiller Band
Cleveland, OH · formed 1988
Jim Miller formed the JiMiller Band in Cleveland in 1988; its first gig that August was opening for the Dead tribute act Sugar Magnolia. Miller had previously fronted Oroboros through an 18-year run that took in the 1994 H.O.R.D.E. Festival and the 1996 Furthur Festival, plus opening slots for Hot Tuna, Santana, The Kinks, Richard Thompson and Robert Hunter. The band plays originals alongside Grateful Dead and Allman Brothers material, with Miller's jazz-inflected lead guitar and resonant vocals over Dave Blackerby on bass, Steve "Nev" Scheff on keys, Brian "Bagel" Golenberg on drums and Vince Berry on guitar. They hold a steady Cleveland presence, including regular dates at Whiskey Island.
