Guitarist and singer Pete Sawyer leads the Left Hand Monkey Wrench Gang — the name nods to Greatest Story Ever Told and Edward Abbey — with rotating combinations of players who have worked with Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart, the Jerry Garcia Band, and Stu Allen: Mark Karan, Reed Mathis, Sunshine Becker, Elliott Peck, Sean Nelson, Eric Levy, and more. The shows are curated explorations of classics, unexpected jewels, and deep cuts, played with conversational improvisation. Home rooms include the Crepe Place in Santa Cruz, the Rio Nido Roadhouse, the California Theatre in Santa Rosa, Sweetwater, and the Occidental Center for the Arts amphitheater, with a Grateful New Year's Eve in Guerneville.
