Sans Souci

Sans Souci is a Jerry Garcia Band tribute founded in 2017, built around Hammond organist and vocalist Max Chase with Mike Carter on guitar and vocals, Abby Schriefer on vocals and percussion, Mike Skoby on bass and Nick Baldoumas on drums. Rather than sticking to the late JGB, they work the whole of Garcia's side-band catalogue - the Jerry Garcia Band proper, Jerry Garcia & Merl Saunders, Legion of Mary, and the Garcia/Howard Wales material - leaning on the rock, blues, Motown and gospel roots of that repertoire. They hold a recurring residency at Electric Haze on Millbury Street in Worcester, often three sets, and also play the WCUW FrontRoom in Worcester, the Sanctuary in Maynard, and rooms further out like the Stone Church and Continuum Arts Collective in North Berwick, Maine. Sit-ins are common - taped shows on the Internet Archive credit guests including Tim Palmieri, Nate Wilson and Richard James.
