Shred Is Dead is guitarist and vocalist Marcus Rezak's project — innovative, shreddy readings of the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band songbooks with an all-star rotating lineup from the jam scene. Rezak, originally from Chicago and now in Los Angeles, has recorded with members of the Trey Anastasio Band, Frank Zappa's band, and Blues Traveler. The band is a Bay Area regular: Mr. Hat Presents' Grateful Mondays at the Ivy Room in Albany, a Sunday two-set throwdown there, a matinee at Berkeley's Chapel of the Flowers, and fall dates at the Guild Theatre, Club Fox, and the Crazy Horse in Nevada City.
