The Deal

The Deal is a small rock band out of Melrose, Florida, just east of Gainesville. By their own account on their YouTube channel, they came together as a one-off pickup band for a hippie festival at the Melrose Center and kept going. They describe themselves as a Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead inspired jam band that works mostly in 1960s and 1970s material, and they routinely mix in Neil Young, Jimmy Cliff, The Band, Van Morrison and the occasional Tom Petty song alongside the Dead repertoire. They play as a quartet and as a trio and carry their own PA. Around Gainesville they turn up at rooms like Cypress & Grove Brewing; sources on this band are thin and no member list is published anywhere I could find.
