The Storytellers

The Storytellers are a Los Angeles progressive bluegrass/jamgrass band, started as a duo in fall 2017 with the full lineup in place by February 2018. They are explicit that they are not a Grateful Dead tribute act and do not try to recreate the Dead's sound; instead they play a large repertoire of Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia Band and Old & In the Way songs on guitar, mandolin, fiddle and bass alongside bluegrass standards and originals, a mix they call 'Grateful Grass.' They work Southern California out to Las Vegas, including a year-long 2022 residency at Treasure Island Casino, and play festivals such as Huck Finn Jubilee, Calico Bluegrass Festival, Prescott Bluegrass Festival and June Lake Jam Fest. Bluegrass Today has covered them, and they played with Peter Rowan at the 2024 Brookdale Bluegrass Festival.
