About the band

Melvin Seals & JGB

San Francisco, CA

Melvin Seals spent well over a decade behind the Hammond B-3 in the Jerry Garcia Band, and his organ is one of the defining sounds of that group's later years. JGB keeps the Garcia Band repertoire alive — the soul covers, the Dylan readings, the long gospel-inflected vamps — with a rotating cast of players around Seals. The band is Bay Area–based and tours nationally, but home dates at the Great American Music Hall, Siesta Valley Bowl, and the Guild Theatre are a fixture of the local calendar, often with Grahame Lesh or Stu Allen sitting in.
