Dark Star Orchestra built its reputation on a simple, audacious premise: rather than assembling a greatest-hits set, the band performs the setlist of an actual Grateful Dead concert from a particular date, chasing the arrangements, the tones, and the personnel of that era. The band comes through the Bay Area most winters — its 2026 run included two nights at Oakland's Fox Theater — and the fall 2026 tour stays east of the Rockies.

1926 Thomas Lamb-designed theater in downtown Port Chester, restored in 2012 as an approximately 1,800-capacity rock room (general-admission floor plus balcony). The Grateful Dead played 13 shows here in 1970-71; the attached Garcia's bar, named for Jerry Garcia with the family's blessing, is a roughly 250-capacity club that hosts many Dead-scene shows.
