Cats on the Bandstand is an acoustic Grateful Dead duo of Gregg Miller and Doug Gochman, who met in Los Angeles in the summer of 2022 through a mutual friend and played their first show under the name at the Bourbon Room in Hollywood in April 2023. They cover the full original Dead run, from early-'70s material through 1995, and say they try to stay close to the originals vocally and musically rather than reinterpret them. The act is self-contained as a duo but expands with bass, drums and/or keys for larger bookings. They hold a monthly residency at the Cinema Bar in Culver City and otherwise work small LA-area rooms; Miller was a founding member of Dog Star with Keanu Reeves from 1992 to 1996.
