About the band
Grateful BRO
White Plains, NY
Grateful BRO is the Grateful Dead configuration of the Blue Roadhouse Orchestra (BRO), a White Plains, New York outfit that otherwise works in classic rock, soul, R&B, Motown and jazz. The band grew out of guitarist Marc Jacoby's move from the city to the northern suburbs in the early 1990s; guitarist/vocalist Cliff Mays and drummer Jim Weingast joined later, and the lineup flexes from a trio up to ten pieces. When it morphs into Grateful BRO it plays full sets of Dead material, sometimes themed around a specific run such as Winterland '77 or Fillmore 1969, with Mays and Jacoby trading the Jerry role. They are explicit about not being a note-for-note cover band. They held a July residency at Garcia's at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, and beyond Westchester they turn up at the Orange Lantern's Grateful Tuesday in Paramus, NJ and at Bousquet Mountain's Summit Sounds series in Pittsfield, MA.
