Raising The Dead is a Detroit-based Grateful Dead tribute: Bill Butler on bass, Matthew Cole and Dave Martin on guitars and Chaim Tolwin on drums, all four singing. They bill themselves as Michigan's premier Dead tribute and work the state from Lake Michigan to the Detroit River, including a recurring Grateful Brunch at the Sardine Room in Plymouth. The official Grateful Dead organization selected them as the headliner of its Dead Covers Project in 2023. They play electric or acoustic depending on the room, leaning on tight vocal harmonies and group improvisation.
